Hello, i’m a journalism student studying in England, and I have an assignment that means I have to write an advertorial on my favourite place, as a tourist destination. My favourite place is Yosemite National Park.

A quote from someone who has published work relating to the park, of their views on why its better then anywhere else to visit, or what it has to offer, would really improve my advertorial.

Thanks for the kind words, and the questions. As for the first, the answer of course is that one can’t. I think we’re all still trying to work out how to get good writing out to readers and also pay the writer’s bills. I hope at some point readers begin to take more responsibility for how what they read is created–as at some point we’ll have to figure out how to get ramen money to the musicians who sing us to sleep at night. We’ll see how it plays out. As for self-publishing, both online and in print, I think it’s becoming more and more realistic as a business model–especially as traditional publishing houses lose their once-firm grasp on distribution and marketing.

Two questions: How can one be paid little and have to pay expenses and yet not give away writing for free?

The other. You mention self publishing. Do you mean e or chap books. Or simply publishing on a personal website?
