Wednesday, June 30: It’s Social Media Day! Social Media Day will be celebrated worldwide through Meetups thanks to online social media guide, Mashable.com. The official Los Angeles Meetup will double as a fundraiser for Hollywood Media Arts, with a $7 donation to attend the event at Choppe Choppe in Culver City. Hosted by The Rainmaker Network and Unicorn Press, Social Media Day LA will be an evening of networking and fun for all.
Wednesday, June 30: It’s the last day to enter the Write On! June Challenge: Query Contest – “Screenplays & Teleplays.” The winner in each category will have their query letter read by Los Angeles literary agent David Boxerbaum of APA and receive a copy of Blake Snyder’s SAVE THE CAT! Saturday, July 3: Pressure Cooker, directed by Mark Becker and Jennifer Grausman, will be playing at 7:30 pm at MoMA in New York. The documentary is about Philadelphia schoolteacher Wilma Stephenson, who believes her students can develop discipline and concentration and improve their self-worth by learning how to cook. A strict taskmaster, Stephenson hopes her tough love will help her students earn culinary-school scholarships.
