Congratulations, Kelly Boyer Sagert. She co-authored a two-book series with Dr. Steven J. Overman for ABC-Clio. The books contain 36 biographies of iconic female athletes and are set to be released in January 2012.

Nicole Pajer just launched GiV LA – a social volunteering organization in Los Angeles, where people can volunteer in the community and then do something fun and social afterward. The kick off event will be June 11: Volunteering at the LA Regional Food Bank in downtown Los Angeles from 9am to 12pm and then heading out to a fun nearby spot as a group for mimosas.

Am psyched to be leading a Writers Panel at this year’s 140Conf in New York, which runs June 15 – 16. Screenwriter/documentary filmmaker/author Tracey Jackson, Between a Rock and a Hot Place, and scriptchat co-founder/screenwriter/novelist Jeanne Veillette Bowerman will be joining me. Screenwriting 411 special panel discussion, featuring four of Hollywood’s top screenwriting experts: Jen Grisanti, Dr. Linda Seger, Pamela Jaye Smith, and Kathie Fong Yoneda.The event.is at Barnes & Noble, 1201 3rd Street Promenade, in Santa Monica on June 28 at 7:30pm.

ONGOING
Sundays: Scriptchat is a twitter chat for new and seasoned screenwriters. Since screenwriters are global, Scriptchat has two chats each Sunday: 8pm GMT is EURO #scriptchat, moderated by Mina Zaher (@DreamsGrafter) and 8pm EST, moderated by Jeanne Veillette Bowerman (@jeannevb). All transcripts are posted on the blog, as well as tons of screenwriting resources.

Screenwriter Karaoke is once a month at Sardos in Burbank. The singing starts at 8:30pm. Details will be posted on Meetup.

The Los Angeles Public Library has a Screenwriters Workshop four Saturdays a month at different branches, from 10:30 am – 12 pm, and every Sunday in the Farmers Market community room from 3 – 5 pm, hosted by Sasha Karova. Learn format and workshop original material (screenplays, 1/2 hour sitcom, and 1/2 hour and 1 hour episodic) with an open reading or read-through. Open reading is on a first-come, first-served basis. Meditation Friday Nights at The Learning Garden the 2nd Friday of the month. Meditation begins promptly at 8:00 pm. Please dress in layers and bring a blanket and cushion to sit on.
