Bringing community to writers throughout the world

Write On! Events this Week

June 18th, 2012 in Write On! by Debra Eckerling

One thing that I love about working in this day in age is that events are everywhere! And they come in a variety of forms: networking events, conferences, booksigning, seminars, webinars, calls, etc. And, if you go to an event and learn one thing or meet one person—usually more—it has made your time worth it.

Each coast has a spectacular event this week!

Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and 20, Jeff Pulver’s #140conf State of Now is taking place at the 92nd Street Y in New York. If you are not in New York, you can watch it online on their ustream channel. I had the pleasure of speaking at the #140conf in New York last June and previously in Los Angeles. And I can tell you this … the State of Now community loves what they do and enjoys nothing more than to embrace new people—literally and figuratively. Listen to my Blog Talk Radio interview with Jeff Pulver last week and he’ll tell you how the best way to enter a conference or any other event is with a hug.

For those of us on the left coast, Thursday through Saturday, June 21 – 23, is Silicon Beach Fest (SBF), created by Digital LA and presented by engage:BDR. The festival—celebrating tech, entertainment, and startups—will have panels, workshops, networking events, and more, in 12 venues in Santa Monica and Venice, California. I will be covering the event for Women 2.0, so watch for posts from me on their blog, starting with this overview of SBF, and the participating female tech talent.

Not on either coast? Let us know what events your’re going to this week.
