Dana Bate launched her third novel, Too Many Cooks. The book, published by Kensington, has been called “a perfect choice for foodie fans of women’s fiction” by Library Journal and was named a “Top Pick” by RT Book Reviews.

Ayun Halliday’s new play, Fawnbook, a post-digital, pre-apocalyptic dark comedy starring 3 middle-aged women and 3 teenage boys, runs through November at the Brick Theater in Brooklyn. All dialogue was drawn from social media posts about food, disasters both man-made and natural, and North American wildlife wandering into suburband backyards.

Robert Kerbeck’s kooky tale of surfing werewolves, “Lycans Don’t Surf,” was accepted by Cream City Review and will appear in their 40th anniversary edition. His story about a recipe stealing celebrity chef, “A Dish Best Served Warm,” was accepted by Gargoyle and will appear in their 40th anniversary edition, as well. Congrats, Robert!

Michal Lemberger, author of After Abel and Other Stories, will be in New York, from November 12 – 16, to read from and talk about her book. Vividly reimagined with startling contemporary clarity, this debut collection of short stories gives voice to silent, often-marginalized biblical women: their ambitions, their love for their children, their values, their tremendous struggles, and their challenges.

These events are free and open to the public: Reading and discussion: Thursday, November 12, from 7-8:30pm, at Schechter Manhattan – 805 Columbus. Talk on narrative in the Bible: Friday, November 13, 5:30pm, at Congregation Darkhei Noam, 270 West 89th Street. Reading and discussion: Monday, November 16, 12pm, at the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, Columbia University, 513 Fayerweather Hall, 1180 Amsterdam Avenue.
