Attendance at our July meeting at Cafe Literati in West LA was a little smaller than the norm. Some people were out sick, others had to work. I love how everyone checks in.
Still, we had a fun and lively meeting: some of the regulars along with my new friend and fellow Mango publishing author G. Brian Benson, Habits for Success, and newish IRL member Dennis Moran, a freelance writer who moved to Los Angeles around six months ago.
Everyone talked about their projects and set new goals. Among other things, we discussed the value of connecting and relationship development. You never know who you are going to run into and when. And the more people you know, it ups the odds.
Speaking of which …
We also had a guest appearance from David Bloom, journalist and host of the Tech in Bloom podcast, and Jay Alan Samit, author of Disrupt You! They just finished having lunch, and stopped by our table for a little visit.
My point is this: Even if you have an introverted nature, be out there. My rule is one IRL encounter a week. It can be an event, a meetup, or coffee with a friend. And, if you go to the same place often enough, you may even make new friends.
Our next LA meeting is on August 7 at 1:30pm at Literati Cafe, 10281 Wilshire Blvd., in West LA.
There is nearby meter parking, street parking, and a paid lot. The cafe requests each attendee make a purchase (at least a drink). RSVP on Facebook.
Remember, post your July Goals on Write On Online or weekly goals on Facebook to be entered in a drawing to win a book from Michael Wiese Productions.
