Habits for Success – Inspired Ideas to Help You Soar, by G. Brian Benson was selected as a 2019 Book Excellence Award Winner in the Motivational book category as well as one of six grand prize winners.
Nita Sweeney, author of the memoir, Depression Hates a Moving Target, is traveling this month. She will teach “writing practice,” Natalie Goldberg’s technique for overcoming creative blocks, in Upper Arlington, Ohio, on August 11, and in Lexington, Kentucky, on August 17. Click the links for info.
Just released and available via pdf: Navigating a New Era of Business and Human Rights. Each chapter addresses an important issue in the field. The chapter by Write On member Dr. Chaz Austin, “The Gig Economy: How Freelance Work is Re-defining the 21st Century Workplace in the United States” can be found on pages 172-178 (177-183 in the download).
On the 10th anniversary of the passing of Blake Snyder, author of the Save the Cat series, “Cats” around the globe are sharing their memories of him. Read what they had to say and chime in here.
2019 Bay Area Writer’s Contest: The Women’s National Book Association is a 100+ year old venerated organization of women and men across the broad spectrum of writing and publishing. They honor and celebrate woman authors and diverse writers with their 2019 Bay Area WNBA Writer’s Contest, running through October 31st, 2019. Genres include: Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry. Fiction and Nonfiction should be 500-2500 words. Poetry should be no more than 40 lines. Participants may submit up to three pieces. Get fees/details/prize info, and enter here.

The Tahoma Literary Review is accepting narrative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry submissions. Full guidelines are here. They currently pay between $30 and $100.
