Mark Niu just wrapped up shooting his short film, Juche Rules, (www.jucherules.com ) based on his play that was staged at East-West Players Theater last year. The first few pages of the play, which is set on a bus in North Korea, were first read in the Write On! workshop. Now begins the search for anyone interested in coming aboard as a co-producer or investor on this “extremely” timely and unique film.

The Los Angeles Public Library now has a Screenwriters Workshop four Saturdays of the month at different branches, from 10:30 am – 12 pm, and every Sunday in the Farmers Market community room from 3 – 5 pm, hosted by Sasha Karova. FINAL NOTE – FELLOWSHIPS:
Literary non-profit PEN USA’s 2010 Emerging Voice Fellowship application cycle is now open. Emerging Voices is an intensive eight-month program for writers in the early stages of their literary careers. The program includes free classes at UCLA Extension Writers’ Program; a one-on-one mentorship with a professional writer; Q&A evenings with professional writers, publishers, editors, and agents; Master classes by genre with a published PEN author; Day-long workshops on various elements of publishing; a $1,000 stipend.
