Wednesday, June 30: It’s Social Media Day! Social Media Day will be celebrated worldwide through Meetups thanks to online social media guide, Mashable.com. The official Los Angeles Meetup will double as a fundraiser for Hollywood Media Arts, with a $7 donation to attend the event at Choppe Choppe in Culver City. Hosted by The Rainmaker Network and Unicorn Press, Social Media Day LA will be an evening of networking and fun for all.

Wednesday, June 30: It’s the last day to enter the Write On! June Challenge: Query Contest – “Screenplays & Teleplays.” The winner in each category will have their query letter read by Los Angeles literary agent David Boxerbaum of APA and receive a copy of Blake Snyder’s SAVE THE CAT! The Last Story Structure Software You’ll Ever Need. Screenwriter Tracey Jackson (Lucky Ducks) will select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from the Screenplay finalists. Thursday, July 1: It’s the last day to Post a Question for Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd in the StoryLink Forum. Those whose questions are chosen will receive The Dialogue: Learning from the Masters DVD (Winner’s Choice) from The Writers Store.

Thursdays: InScreenwriting now starts at 8 pm and runs until 10 pm, at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Blvd., Venice, CA.  and is moderated by Matt Byrnes, mbbyrnes@gmail.com. Readings begin in the order in which the author arrived. Bring 1-10 pages of your screenplay, and make enough copies for each role. No RSVP necessary. Feel free to sit in without bringing any material of your own.

Saturday, July 3: Pressure Cooker, directed by Mark Becker and Jennifer Grausman, will be playing at 7:30 pm at MoMA in New York. The documentary is about Philadelphia schoolteacher Wilma Stephenson, who believes her students can develop discipline and concentration and improve their self-worth by learning how to cook. A strict taskmaster, Stephenson hopes her tough love will help her students earn culinary-school scholarships.

Sundays: Scriptchat was created for the purpose of bringing new and seasoned screenwriters together to learn and grow.
