September 30: Journalist and author of 19 books Ruth Gruber turns 99. She is the subject of the new documentary, Ahead of Time, which tells the remarkable story of her early career. She wasn’t just a witness to history, she helped make it. The film is playing through October 3 at Laemmle Theatres. For more information, go to the website.
Friday, October 1: Chicagoans, time for Facets’ second annual Fright School. Facets shows a horror film every Friday and Saturday at midnight. Each film will be introduced by a staff member who will hang around into the wee hours for a Q&A.
