The Write On Online January 2020 Newsletter has member news, events, and more.

Since there are a bunch of LA-based events planned for January in line with the release of Your Goal Guide – and plenty of opportunities to hang out and connect – there will not be a regular meetup this month. See events below, as well as my Mango Author Page. And keep an eye on The D*E*B Method Facebook page for links and live-streams throughout January.

Congratulations to this month’s goal-posting winner Chris Mackey, who won a copy of Story Selling by Heather Hale. To be entered in a drawing to win a book from Michael Wiese Productions post your January Goals

Join the Write On Online Facebook Group for community and conversation. Plus, check out the #GoalChat Twitter chat every Sunday at 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern. Need a reminder? RSVP for January chats. Topics in the Events section. Read the recaps on Twitter Moments.

Write On Online has regular, ongoing content, such as Write On! Wednesdays, Meeting Recaps, Guest Posts, and more. By the way, if you are interested in contributing a 500- to 700-word guest article in your area of expertise, email me.

Mineral School apps for summer 2020 residency near Mt. Rainier in Washington state are officially open through Submittable through 2/15! Hit submit! Most residencies are two weeks long (the parents’ session is shorter) and all include 3 meals/daily (allergies accommodated), a dash of optional programming as dessert potlucks, and quality time in a town founded on gold rush ambition, dashed on arsenic reality, and where logging came and went and left a lot of character. Learn more and submit.

Proposals are an essential part of most businesses, but publishing has its idiosyncrasies. Modern History Press just published the second edition of Carolyn Howard-Johnson’s Great First-Impression Book Proposals. Author Treacy Colbert says, “’This is a really smart proposal,’ was one comment from an agent who went on to sell my nonfiction book to a publisher. The ‘smartest’ thing about it? I used Carolyn’s guide to write it!”  Find a special offer for it at Modern History Press, using the code GOFRUGAL.
