Another great writers group tonight in Santa Monica! We had novelists, screenwriters, fiction, non-fiction, poets, and artists … and a bunch of new people. Welcome Gabriel, Danielle, Jane, Jill, and Shelley!
There were some good conversations about tone and style; and how a person’s experience and frame-of-reference are what makes a writer stand out. Plus, with the Query Contest—for Books in May and Screenplay in June—we went over what makes for a good query: engaging opening, pitch the story, and pitch yourself. We also discussed the importance of a bio and using a blog as a portfolio for a writers work.
Thanks, Gabriel, Jared, Jill, Linda, Shelley, and Laurie for sharing your words.
The next Write On! Meeting will be on June 9, 2010. Share your blog/website link on the Writing Resources Post on Write On! Online. And you can always post article links, news, and success stories on the Write On! Facebook Page.
Post your June Goals for a chance to win an iScript. And enter the Write On! May Challenge – Query Contest: Fiction and Non-Fiction Books. Email your one-page query to email@example.com by May 31. Complete submission guidelines are here.
