Write On! Online caught with award-winning writer/producer Kirk Ellis, John Adams, at Writers Guild of America’s Sublime Primetime last summer. Ellis won two Emmys and the Humanitas Prize for his work on the seven-part HBO miniseries John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney, based on David McCullough’s Pulitzer Prize-winning biography. He also took home the WGA award for long-form adaptation.
Previously, Ellis received an Emmy nomination and won the Writers Guild of America and the Humanitas Prize for the ABC miniseries Anne Frank, which he wrote and co-produced. He also wrote the award-winning ABC miniseries The Beach Boys: An American Family, among other credits. Ellis began his professional career as a film critic for The Hollywood Reporter.
Ellis offers advice for writers and talks about “managing multiple projects at various stages of development.”
