Today, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 85th Annual Oscars.

Mark Boal, Zero Dark Thirty

Adapted Screenplay
Chris Terrio, Argo
Lucy Alibar and Benh Zeitlin, Beasts of the Southern Wild
Tony Kushner, Lincoln
David Magee, Life of Pi
David O. Russell, Silver Linings Playbook

Most of these films are also nominated for Best Picture: Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty. Les Miserables is also up for the top award.

There was a lot of crossover between the Academy, Spirit, and Writers Guild Award writing nominees.

For Film Independent’s Spirit AwardsMoonrise Kingdom and Silver Linings Playbook are up for Best Screenplay. Also nominated are Ruby Sparks (Zoe Kazan), Seven Psychopaths (Martin McDonagh), and Keep the Lights On (Ira Sachs).

Plus, Best First Screenplay nominees are Fill the Void (Rama Burshtein), Safety Not Guaranteed (Derek Connolly), Robot & Frank (Christopher Ford), Celeste and Jesse Forever (Rashida Jones & Will McCormack), and Gayby (Jonathan Lisecki).

The Writers Guild of America Awards Original Screenplay nominees are: Flight, Moonrise Kingdom, and Zero Dark Thirty, as well as Looper (Rian Johnson) and The Master (Paul Thomas Anderson).

Adapted Screenplay nominees are Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, and Silver Linings Playbook, along with The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky).
