What a great way to kick off the year! Thanks, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, award-winning novelist, poet, and author of the acclaimed How To Do It Frugally series of books for writers, for joining us for the January Write On Meeting on Blog Talk Radio.
We talked about the importance of marketing using new and traditional ways. Plus, Carolyn gave some suggestions for breaking through writers block.
Carolyn suggests:
– In additonal to using social media, writers can use traditional methods for promotion, such as sending out a regular newsletter. Writers can also develop a media llist of publications and bloggers and do media releases at least once/month.
– Fiction writers, read your book with marketing in mind. For example, if there are dogs in your book, appeal to dog lovers for some of your marketing efforts.
– All writing is writing. Blogging, writing reviews, doing marketing materials … they all count! Just jot notes, get in front of the computer first thing in the morning, do whatever it takes to get your writing done.
