September 24: Being Professional: FREE Workshop with Adam Coplan at The Writers Store, 3510 W. Magnolia Blvd., in Burbank from 2 – 5pm. In this interactive workshop, Coplan will teach from a section in his book (Being Professional) on creating strong characters and lead the group through some writing exercises to help get the creativity flowing! RSVP here.

September 25: Tongue & Groove LA: A monthly literary variety show with music produced by Conrad Romo, from 6 – 7:30pm at The Hotel Cafe, 1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood. This month features Rich Ferguson New Jersey Me, Martin Pousson Black Sheep Boy, Dana Johnson In the Not Quite Dark, J. Keith van Straaten, Gwen Banta, The Fly Strip, + music by tbd. Cost is $7. September 26: IWOSC Panel on Ageism. Ageism affects writers, whether they be budding novelists or scriptwriting veterans. A panel of experts, including Chuck N. Baker (journalist, author, and filmmaker) and Ray Richmond, media critic and author, address the topic at 7:30pm in Culver City. October 6: How to Break into the Screenwriting Business A four week course by Michele Wallerstein viaScreenwriters University begins.

October 29: PALA presents The Nuts and Bolts of Self-Publishing with Sharon Goldinger. Go to PA-LA.org and click on the right sidebar for a list of all the topics Sharon will cover. RSVP and pay there as well. This 4-hour seminar starts at 9:30am in Culver City, and prepaid reservations are required. $69 before October 8; $79 after.

November 14: The 2016 edition of #140conf will take place in Los Angeles at The Crest in Westwood. I will be co-hosting the event with founder Jeff Pulver. The format of our conference are 10 minute talks mixed with a few short panel discussions, followed by networking. The #140conf events provide a platform to listen, connect, share, and engage with each other, while collectively exploring the effects of the real-time internet on business. Get early bird tickets.
