Win With Write On is a monthly challenge, designed to help you improve your professional or personal life – or both. At the end of the month, a winner (from those who comment that they completed their challenge) will be chosen at random to receive a copy of one of my books Write On Blogging or Purple Pencil Adventures.
February Challenge: Focus in February
February is a short month, so I will give you an “easy” short challenge: to focus. Pick a project – it can be something you already started or on your todo list. Then, complete it. To help focus your time, I recommend scheduling an hour or two appointment on your calendar each week, and work (without distractions) to get it done!
Need an idea for a short project? Here are some suggestions.
Write:
- A query
- A pitch
- A short story
- A short film or screenplay
- An essay
- A blog post
- Your updated bio
- Your updated LinkedIn profile
Produce:
- A book
- A audio book
- A webinar
- A book trailer
- A short film
- Another creative work
The Rules
The rules are simple. Comment on this or the Facebook post with what you accomplished when you started to focus. If you want you can even post what you plan to do, too!
Whether or not your submission is chosen, you will be a winner. That’s the point of this exercise. To have a win, feel good, and have the strength and motivation to conquer the rest of your world.
One more thing: Yes, the monthly drawing for just posting your goals will continue. Think of this monthly challenge as a bonus or extra-credit goal, similar to what I suggest in the monthly live meeting.
My Focus In February: I will release Write On Blogging: 51 Tips to Create, Write & Promote Your Blog in physical book and/or audiobook form.
Your turn. How will you Focus in February? What will you complete to get a win this month? Let us know in the comments.

Jump Into January Winner: Shannon Luders-Manuel
Shannon wrote: “My goal for the year (but I’ll start with January) is to only watch one hour of TV a day aside from sick days. So far so good! I haven’t stuck to exactly an hour, but not over two.”
Then checked in at the end of the month: “I’ve stuck to my goal fairly well. I probably watch about an hour and a half of TV a day.”
Since Shannon already has both of my books, she will receive a copy of Writing Subtext by Linda Seger from Michael Wiese Productions. Congrats Shannon!
